Donna Cronin girling

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Cronin Girling, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Donna departed this life peacefully on July 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 1, 1947, in Webster City, Iowa, to her devoted parents, Alta Billings Cronin and Raymond Patrick Cronin. Donna's life was enriched by her strong family bonds and lifelong friendships. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Kenneth Steven Cronin. Her legacy continues through her cherished husband, William (Bill) Girling, and their daughter, Jennifer Girling Ray, along with her husband, David. Donna's pride and joy was her grandson, David William Ray, whose laughter and accomplishments brought her endless happiness. After graduating from Lane High School in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1965, Donna pursued her passion for learning by earning a Bachelor of Science in Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master's in Education from Longwood University. Her teaching career spanned 27 years as an English teacher in Chesterfield County Schools. Donna and Bill began their journey together when they married on April 17, 1971. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a home filled with warmth and hospitality, where family and friends were always welcome. In addition to her immediate family, Donna is survived by her sisters, Jane Cronin Bolamperti, Pat Cronin Newman, and Jan Cronin Frieden. Her family will forever cherish the memories of her kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit. In accordance with the family’s wishes, a private burial will be held. Those who wish to honor Donna's memory are encouraged to donate to a charity of their choice, reflecting her generous nature and commitment to helping others.
