Donese Bentley

July 13, 1947 — October 21, 2026

Donese Bentley was born on July 13, 1947, and departed this life on October 21, 2026. He was born to the late Carrie Bentley and was preceded in death by his brother, William Bentley. Donese attended Lucy C. Laney High School and pursued additional studies at the graduate level. He also answered God's call to ministry and became a licensed minister. Donese devoted many years of service to Augusta Water Works before retiring. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout his career. He had a deep passion for playing the organ, a gift he used to uplift and inspire others through music. Donese was loved and admired by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He enjoyed music, shopping, cooking, and caring for his sister. Above all, he had a deep love for Rock of Ages CME Church. He joined the church at the age of eight and remained a faithful and dedicated member throughout his life. During his years of service, he faithfully wore many hats, including Choir Director, Music Director, Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, and numerous other leadership roles. Donese leaves to cherish his memory his beloved sister, Willie Mae Bentley; his nephews, Jeffrey Bentley and Courtney Bentley. He also leaves behind a host of devoted family members and friends whose hearts are saddened by his passing.

Remember Me

Remember me with smiles not tears, for all the joy through all the years. Recall the closeness that was ours, A love as “sweet” as fragrant flowers. Don’t dwell on thoughts that cause you pain, We’ll see each other once again. I am at peace… try to believe, It was my time… I had to leave. But “what a view” I have from here, I see your face, I feel you near. I follow you throughout the day, You’re not alone along the way. And when God calls you…you will be, Right by my side… right here with me. Till then, I’ll wait by heaven’s door, We’ll be united… evermore.

Special Thanks

With grateful hearts, the Bentley family thanks you for your prayers, kindness, and unwavering support. Your calls, texts, emails, visits, and words of encouragement have meant more than words can express.
