Born on April 16, 1950, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Donald was the cherished son of August and Catherine (Augustiniak) Woiak. His journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and a profound commitment to family and community. Donald spent his formative years in Pittsfield, where he graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1969. He was a proud letterman in both basketball and football, showcasing his passion and talent for sports. His love for teamwork and discipline would serve him well throughout his life. In 1972, Donald answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea and served honorably until 1976, achieving the rank of Specialist 4. His military service was a testament to his courage and dedication to the ideals of freedom and peace. Upon returning home, Donald embarked on a long and fulfilling career at Nekoosa Paper Mill, where he worked for over 40 years. His favorite role was at the lumber yard, where he forged lifelong friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues through his hard work and integrity. On June 1, 1996, Donald married the love of his life, Delores Hilgers, in an intimate ceremony at their home. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. Donald was a devoted husband to Delores for 30 wonderful years. He was a proud father to his daughters, Nichole Woiak, Denise Kinner (married to Michael), and Debra Hilgers. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who brought immense joy to his life. Donald was a man of many passions. He was an enthusiastic sportsman and traveler, always seeking new adventures and experiences. He was an active member of the American Legion, NRA, and Ducks Unlimited, where he formed lasting friendships and contributed to causes he deeply believed in. Donald is also survived by his brothers, Gus and Dick, and his nephew, James Woiak. He was a guiding light and a source of strength to his family, whose love and support he cherished deeply. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, we invite family and friends to gather for one last celebration of Donald's life on June 17, 2026, at the South Park Community Shelter by the serene Lake Wazeecha, located at 6923 South Park Road. Donald would have wanted everyone to come together, share stories, and raise a glass in his honor at the lake that held so many precious family memories. Donald's presence in our lives was a gift, and he will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and an unyielding spirit that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
