Donald Wilkerson Sr., a cherished father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 2, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on October 8, 1948, in the small town of Saratoga, Texas. Donald was the beloved son of the late Ernest H. and Viola Wilkerson. He was predeceased by his wife Bobby Wilkerson his dear sister, Joyce Freeman, his brother, Johnny Lee Wilkerson and his cherished canine companion, Ginger. He is survived by his son, Donald Wilkerson Jr., along with his daughter-in-law, Marilyn. His legacy continues through his siblings, sisters Dee Sanders and Mary Lou Overkott (Robert), brother Earnest E. Wilkerson (Donna), Lala Robins (Jerry). Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also hold his memory close to their hearts. A proud Vietnam veteran, Donald served his country with honor in the Marines. His commitment to community and fellow veterans was further demonstrated through his active membership in the Liberty VFW, where he forged lasting friendships and contributed to the spirit of camaraderie. Donald was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He relished sitting on his porch, savoring a cup of coffee, and enjoying an old western film. His love for ice cream was legendary, often jesting that he could put Blue Bell out of business. Despite his quiet demeanor, he was known for his playful spirit and teasing nature, endearing him to all who knew him. In his final days, Donald was lovingly supported by his family, with special gratitude extended to Lala and Jerry for their attentive care and compassion. Donald's life was a tapestry woven with love, service, and quiet humor. He leaves behind a legacy of strength and kindness that will forever inspire those fortunate enough to have known him. Rest in peace, Donald. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in our hearts forever. The family at a later date will host a celebration of life.
