In Loving Memory

Donald Stevens Robinson
December 13, 1936 — October 30, 2026
Don Robinson was and always will be remembered as a loving, kind, respectful, thoughtful, unpretentious, understanding, faithful, loyal, generous, and an honest man.
Don of Hampstead, NC passed away peacefully, on October 30th 2026. His two children, Mickie and Scott were by his bedside at his home.
He was born in Portland, Maine on December 13th 1936 to the late Lillian Yerxa Robinson Utterback and Vaughn Eugene Robinson. He was married to Veronica “Ronnie” Joy Lutz Robinson in 1961. They were married 60 years. Ronnie preceded him in death on December 1st, 2021. He is survived by daughter Michele “Mickie” Diane Mock, son Brian “Scott” Robinson, grandchildren Corey Mock, Chelsea Mock Chinn, Nicholas Robinson, Shelby Robinson, and two great grandsons: Augy Chinn and Asher Chinn.
Don graduated from Bangor High School and attended the University of Maine, graduating in 1960 with a BA in government. In college he was a member of the Reserve Officers Training Corps and was inducted into the Scabbard and Blade, a Military Honor Society. Upon graduation he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. After serving a tour overseas in Germany, Don joined the Central Intelligence Agency, where he was a personal security and counter-intelligence careerist. He participated in uncovering and bringing to prosecutions several highly publicized individuals engaged in espionage against the United States government. He retired in 1994 having risen to senior intelligence service status and was awarded the intelligence medal of merit, one of CIA’s highest awards. In retirement, Don continued for several years to conduct security clearance investigations under contract to the government.
One cannot wish for more than a long and adventurous life. Don had both. While with the CIA, Don volunteered to be seconded to the FAA as one of the very first sky marshals crisscrossing the Middle East. He traveled to many foreign countries as part of his military and CIA duties. While Don was in the military they were assigned to Germany where their two children Mickie and Scott, were born. Activities throughout his life included water skiing, sailing, running, including 22 marathons, scuba diving, sports car racing, skydiving, and golf. He served as the president of the Wilmington Roadrunners, president of his homeowner’s association, and was an election’s Judge. Don took up golf later in life and was a member of Castle Bay Golf Course in Hampstead. Many a happier day was spent on the golf course with friends. Don loved animals along with his wife and had adopted many strays in their lifetime. Heather, Smokey, Goldie, Marley Jean, Terry, and Tuxedo were their dogs in their lives. He was a little partial to both Terry and Tuxedo. Tuxedo was his faithful companion after Ronnie passed.
Though he was a man of few words; his family and friends never doubted the depth of his love. His love was felt in quiet ways, and he never overstayed his welcome. He will be sincerely remembered.
His final resting place and memorial service will be at Andrews Mortuary 17730 Highway 17 North, Hampstead, NC on Saturday November 7th at 3:00 PM. He will be interred at Sea Lawn Memorial Park.

I signed your birth certificate, You will sign my death certificate. I chose your first outfit, You will choose my last. I felt your first breath, You will feel my last. And when that day comes, I hope you remember: Before you ever knew my name, I knew yours. Before you ever loved me, I loved you!
