In Loving Memory

Donald Soday, Jr.
December 24, 1950 — April 8, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Donald "Chuck" Soday, Jr., who left this world peacefully on April 8, 2026, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. Born on December 24, 1950, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Chuck was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Chuck was the cherished son of the late Donald and Marjorie Soday and brother to the late Frank Soday. He was also predeceased by his mother-in-law, Gwendolyn M. DeArmond.
Despite these losses, Chuck's life was filled with love and laughter, supported by his devoted wife of 20 years, Dana, with whom he shared many adventures and fond memories. Chuck affectionately referred to Dana as "Gladys," and together they explored the world, often cruising with their family and winning at trivia games, earning the family the "ship on a stick."
His proudest accomplishments came from his family, including his bonus daughters Lyndsey Nguyen (Micah), Nikki Schindelmeiser and Shaina LaCarbo, and his son, Christopher. Chuck being the only son in law, his father in law, George “Toot” DeArmond loved and treated him as a son. They always had debates on Navy vs Marines and Trump vs Biden. Chuck was a loving “Pop Pop” to three grandsons: Sutton James, Wiley and Archie who will forever cherish his tender loving ways and quick wit.
Chuck was also survived by his brother Ken Soday and sister Janie Miller (Bill) with numerous nieces and nephews.
A proud veteran, Chuck served in the Navy from 1969 to 1975 as an aviation electrician. A role that took him to the far reaches of the globe, including the South Pole and Iraq. He continued his career as an industrial electrician for various electrical companies, where he applied his skills and dedication to the craft he loved.
Chuck's life was marked by his passion for adventure and his love of riding his Harley Davidson, a treasured gift built by his friend Rob Rangold. His zest for life and his warm, welcoming spirit made him a friend to many.
A service to honor Chuck's life will be held on April 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Gravesite in St Amant, La.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the hospice nurses and Dr. Halton for their compassionate care, as well as Dr. Burke Brooks, Dr. Kimberly LeBlanc, and Kacie Katalla, RN, for their unwavering support throughout Chuck's journey. Words cannot express the depth of gratitude and appreciation we hold for each of you.
Chuck's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, in the stories shared and the memories cherished. As we celebrate his life, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide us, and his love will remain with us always.
