It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Donald Roy Howze, who peacefully departed this world on September 10, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his cherished family. Born on June 19, 1944, in Pittsburgh, PA, Donald was the beloved son of Kearly and Lucy Howze and was known for his kind heart and welcoming spirit.
Donald's life was a tapestry woven with dedication, love, and service. A proud graduate of Westinghouse High School, he went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Army. Following his military service, Donald applied his strong work ethic across various jobs, spending thirty years of his career with the Port Authority, along with his time as a truck driver and at Ford Motor Company.
He was a man of gentle wisdom and quiet strength, always ready with words of encouragement or guidance. Donald's calm demeanor made him a cherished confidant to many. His love of cars was well-known, particularly his pride in his GTO, and he found joy in his train set, a passion that brought him much delight. The bowling lanes of Homewood knew his presence well, as he was an enthusiastic member of The Wednesday Nighters Bowling League.
Donald shared thirty-six beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Gloria, until her passing. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, Donald Jr. (Joyce) and Veronica (John), and his seven treasured grandchildren, Donald, Dawn, Deja, Jillian, Julian, Te'Jonya, and Joi. His extended family includes a host of nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his siblings Ariel, Edward, and Elbert, and his dear wife, Gloria. His family finds solace in knowing he is reunited with them once more.
A celebration of Donald's life will be held on September 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the House of Law, located at 9406 Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh, PA, 15235. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests making donations to a charity of your choice, honoring Donald's spirit of generosity and care for others.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Home Instead Inc., Jim Olson, and Bridges Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Donald Roy Howze will be deeply missed but always lovingly remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness and wisdom will continue to inspire all who knew him.
