Donald Ray Blackwood

October 25, 1940 — October 5, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Donald Ray Blackwood, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on October 5, 2026, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Born on October 25, 1940, in Monarch, AR, Donald was a pillar of the community in Halls, TN, where he spent much of his life surrounded by family and friends. Donald was the cherished son of the late Noah Lee and Millie Mandy (Greener) Blackwood. He was predeceased by his son, Donald Ray Blackwood Jr., and his siblings: Edna Wise, Imarie Davis, Louise Barnett, Lucille Blackwood, Kenneth Blackwood, Claude Blackwood, Gene Blackwood, and Dean Edward Blackwood. His legacy of kindness and generosity is carried forward by his devoted wife of 64 years, Judith Lynn (McMunn) Blackwood; his daughter, Kristen Deaton and her husband, Richard, of Halls, TN; his brother, Lyndell Blackwood of Ripley, TN; his grandchildren, Seth Deaton (Kristin) and Brenna Cain (Brent); and his great-grandchildren, Axton, Annsely, and Aadon Deaton, and Cheyenne and Stetson Cain. Donald was a man of many talents and interests. He was well known for his entrepreneurial spirit as the owner of Blackwood Tire Store and Salvage Yard, where he worked with dedication until his retirement. Donald’s love for crappie fishing and being on the water was matched only by his passion for music. As a member of the family gospel group, the "Blackwood Trio," his voice was a beacon of joy and inspiration to all who heard it. Above all, Donald treasured the moments spent with family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. His warmth, humor, and unwavering support will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. A service to honor Donald’s life will be held at Halls Funeral Home, located at 109 N. Church St., Halls, TN, on October 7, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to join in remembrance of a remarkable life and to celebrate the many wonderful memories Donald leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Donald's memory. His spirit of giving and helping those in need was a hallmark of his character, and it is a legacy that will continue to inspire us all. Though he is no longer with us, Donald Ray Blackwood’s love, laughter, and legacy will endure in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Donald Ray Blackwood welcomes donations to a charity, nonprofit, church, or organization of your choosing.
