It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Donald "Mike" Bettinger, who left this world on July 21, 2026. Born on November 4, 1949, in Anoka, Minnesota, Mike was the cherished son of Joseph and Margaret Bettinger. His life was a tapestry woven with the threads of family, friendship, humor, and an insatiable curiosity about the world around him. Mike was a man of many talents and interests. A true collector at heart, he had a remarkable ability to see the potential in everyday objects, transforming them into something new and beautiful. He delighted in crafting birdbaths and metal flowers, gifts that brightened the lives of those he loved. His passion for collecting extended to agates, motorcycles, and books—a testament to his love for knowledge, adventure and his favorite librarian, Jane. His home was a sanctuary filled with treasures, including a serene pond where he enjoyed fishing, and fields where he found joy in baling hay. Mornings were often spent in the company of friends, sharing stories and laughter over coffee. Mike's quick wit and warm smile were his trademarks, and he had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. Mike was predeceased by his beloved grandfather, Edwin Bettinger; his parents, Joseph Bettinger and Margaret Kranz; his brother, Arnold Bettinger; his partner, Jane; and cherished nephews Kevin and Travis & niece, Nicole. He leaves behind a loving family of siblings Dee Peterson, Beverly Bettinger, Gene Bettinger, Darlene King, Cheryl Milender, and Charlie Bettinger, as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. A celebration of Mike's life is held on October 10, 2026, at 12 noon at Nowthen Alliance Church, located at 19653 Nowthen Blvd NW, Anoka. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all who come to share their memories. Also, thanks to family who contributed to the potluck, continuing a cherished family tradition. Mike's jokes, laughter, kindness, and his endless stories will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all who knew him. As we gather to celebrate his life, we remember his gentle soul and the love he shared with us all.
