March 4, 1953 — March 19, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Donald Lee, a cherished husband, devoted father, and loyal friend, who left this world peacefully on March 19, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on March 4, 1953, in the quaint town of Warsaw, New York, Donald was the beloved son of Kenneth and Janice (Sherman) Lee. He is predeceased by his parents and his dear grandson, Eric Melenbacker, who Donald always held close in his heart.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Hattie, with whom he shared a beautiful journey of 41 years, celebrating 31 years of marriage on July 17, 1995. Together, they built a family filled with warmth and laughter, raising three daughters, Charlotte (Jim) Hampton, Angela Killock, and Laura DeGraff, alongside one son, James (Brandy) Ingerick. Donald was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, each bringing immense joy and pride into his life.
A man of commitment and integrity, Donald's journey began with his education at Warsaw Central School. Driven by a deep sense of duty, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1970, spending most of his service at the Beaufort Naval Hospital, where he displayed unwavering dedication. Following his honorable service, Donald pursued higher education at Genesee Community College, where he studied Retail Management, laying the foundation for a successful career.
Donald found his calling in the automotive industry, where he commenced his career as a technician in auto dealerships. Through hard work and perseverance, he transitioned into management before eventually thriving in the sales department, where he shared his passion for new and used Fords and Toyotas with countless clients.
A man of strong principles, Donald was a fervent supporter of the United States Constitution, with a particular emphasis on the Second Amendment. His commitment to conservative values was reflected in his steadfast support of the NRA. Donald's beliefs were as steadfast as his loyalty to the New York Yankees, a team he adored from his early youth until his passing, standing by them through victories and defeats alike.
Donald’s true passion, however, was the freedom and exhilaration of riding motorcycles. It was more than a hobby; it was a way of life. He also found great joy in following NASCAR, attending local tracks and sharing the thrill of the races with family and friends.
In honor of Donald’s service and dedication to his fellow veterans, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Batavia Veterans Home, a cause close to his heart.
Donald Lee will be remembered as a man of great warmth, strength, and character. His legacy will endure in the loving memories of those whose lives he touched. He leaves behind a tapestry of love, woven with cherished moments and enduring values, a testament to a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
