It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Donald LaRocque, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, on June 10, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on November 2, 1938, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, Donald's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and service. Donald was a man of many passions, a devoted worker, and a cherished member of his community. For many years, he was a committed employee at the Tree and Park Department in Hingham, where his hard work and dedication left an indelible mark. His love for the outdoors and nature was evident in everything he did, and his contributions to the community will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. A man of diverse interests, Donald found joy in collecting. From coins to what others might have considered mere "junk," he saw treasures and stories. His passion for coins was more than just a hobby; it was a lifelong interest that he pursued with pride and enthusiasm. Donald's fascination with collecting also extended to his active participation in the South Shore Antique Car Club, where he shared his love of antique vehicles with fellow enthusiasts. Donald was a man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need. His kindness and generosity were hallmarks of his character, and he was always ready to support and uplift others. His family, in particular, was the cornerstone of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them. Predeceased by his loving wife Beverly LaRocque and his son Glen LaRocque, Donald's legacy continues through his surviving children: Debra Read of Hingham, Donald LaRocque of Alton, NH, and April Bailey of Raynham. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Adam Read of Norwell, MA, Sarah Tead of Hingham, MA, Breanna Bailey, and Brendan Bailey, both of Raynham. His family was his pride and joy, and his memory will forever be cherished in their hearts. In honor of Donald's life and his battle with illness, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Lung Society, reflecting his personal struggle and the hope for a healthier future for others. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the nursing home for providing Donald with compassionate care during his final days. Their kindness and dedication brought comfort to both Donald and his family. As we remember Donald LaRocque, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and a commitment to his family and community. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
