Donald Hardy

Donald Hardy, a husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed this life at home with his loved ones by his side after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Born on December 18, 1945, in Milton, Florida. Donald was the beloved son of Frank and Willar Mae Hardy, who predeceased him, along with his siblings, Arnold, Ronald, and sister Bonnie (Hardy) (Foster) Stewart. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mavis Jean (Nelson) Hardy, whose partnership was a testament to love and commitment. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Rhonda (Hardy) (Rocky)Holmes, Ashley Hardy, and Erin (Dee)(Hardy) (Shaun) Lowrey, who were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who will forever miss their beloved "Papa." Donald is also survived by his siblings, Mary Elon (Missy) (Hardy) Rice and Betty Jo (Hardy) Klosowski, who shared a lifetime of memories with him. A special mention Keith Nelson and many cousins, nephews and nieces that were special to him and knew affectionately as Uncle Louie. Donald graduated from Munson High School. He dedicated his career to the family logging company and later served with dedication at the State of Florida Road Department. He retired from the Santa Rosa County Road Department, where he was respected for his hard work and integrity. In his personal life, Donald was a man of many passions. He found joy in farming, raising bulldogs, and tending to his cows. Known for his quick wit and cocky grin, Donald had a unique ability to bring a zinger in awkward situations that made those around him giggle. A celebration of Donald's life will be held on August 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Trahan Funeral Home, located at 6539 Trammel Dr, Milton, FL 32570. While we gather to honor his life, the family takes comfort in the words of Luke 23:43, "Truly I tell you today, you will be with me in Paradise." As we remember Donald Hardy, we hold his memory close, cherishing the love, laughter we shared. His presence will be deeply missed.
