It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the peaceful passing of Donald Glen Roth, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Donald left this world on June 7, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family at his home. Born on April 12, 1937, in Caro, Michigan, Donald was the beloved son of Christian and Florance (Briggs) Roth. Growing up in Caro, he was shaped by the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion, which he carried with him throughout his life. He graduated from Caro High School in 1955, where he excelled in both baseball and football, gaining not only letters but lifelong friendships. Soon after graduation, Donald proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1957. While stationed at the Oklahoma Seabee Battalion, he showcased his athletic prowess on the Navy Baseball team. He later served as a Gunnersmate on the USS Charles R. Ware DD-865, based in Newport, Rhode Island. Upon returning to civilian life, Donald began a long and fulfilling career at General Motors, dedicating 41 years to the company. He took great pride in working alongside his father in the Corvette engine building shop, a place that perfectly blended his professional skills and personal passions. In his personal life, Donald was a beacon of joy and kindness. He was predeceased by his parents Christian and Florance, his cherished daughter Donnieca, his grandparents Frederick and Charlotte, his siblings Shirley (and husband Paul), Charlotte (and husband William), Lynwood (and wife Nancy), and his spouses Donna (Chapelo) and Barbra (Van Buren). He is survived by his children, Dawn (Roth) Lynch and Todd Van Allen (Lori), and stepchildren, Kimberly Gray (Fred) and Nicholas Keech (Gwin). His legacy continues through his grandchildren Tanya Walker (Joe Goodman), Jeremy LaPratt, James Garcia (Linda), Keri Kenny (James), and Marissa Witmer (Michael), his great-grandchildren James Baily, Samantha Hall (Jacob), Tyhlar LaPratt (Alyssa Bueker), Jacob Garcia, Lucy Garcia, Fifer Garcia, Gwynn Witmer, and his great-great-grandchildren Embir Bueker LaPratt and Colter Hall. Donald also leaves behind his dedicated handyman and friend, Ron Craig. A devoted Detroit Tigers fan, Donald never missed a game, and his love for sports extended to Michigan Wolverine football, NASCAR—where he rooted for Jeff Gordon—and playing and watching softball. In his younger days, he found joy in fishing and hunting with family. He also enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, and playing euchre. His garage was always filled with his beloved cars, each with a story of its own. Donald was a man of remarkable warmth and generosity, whose quick wit and welcoming smile could light up any room. He had an innate ability to make everyone feel valued and appreciated, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was an active member of the Moose Lodge 1049, where he fostered many lifelong connections. A celebration of Donald's life will be held on July 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Almer Township Cemetery, located at 403 E Deckerville Rd, Caro, MI 48723. Following the service, the family invites you to join them for a breakfast luncheon to honor Donald's memory at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, 1366 E Caro Rd, Caro, MI.
