In Loving Memory

Donald Eugene Jones
August 8, 1947 — April 4, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Donald Eugene Jones, affectionately known as Donnie, on April 4, 2026. Born on August 8, 1947, in the vibrant city of Nashville, Tennessee, Donnie was a beacon of warmth, resilience, and generosity who touched the lives of many during his 78 remarkable years.
Donnie was welcomed into the world by his loving parents, Jack and Claudenia Moody, who instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and hospitality. These values guided him throughout his life and career. Donnie was predeceased by his parents, his beloved sister Cheryl Simmons, and his cherished son Shane Jones, and we take comfort in knowing they are joyfully reunited in the company of our Heavenly Father.
A graduate of high school in Nashville, Donnie embarked on his career as an HVAC Sheet Metal Union worker in the heart of the city. For over 40 years, his dedication and expertise were evident to all who had the privilege of working alongside him. He was particularly known for mentoring young men, offering them guidance, patience, and the skills necessary to succeed. His colleagues often remarked on his unwavering integrity and his passion for his work.
In his personal life, Donnie found unparalleled joy and companionship with his wife, Gloria D. Jones. Their marriage in Coopertown over two decades ago marked the beginning of a loving partnership that brought together their families, creating a tapestry of love and laughter. Together, they cherished their shared moments and celebrated the beauty of life with their children – son Todd, stepdaughters Colleen (Lou) and Pamela (Laudenir), and their treasured grandchildren, all five of whom brought immense joy to Donnie’s life. His nieces and nephews also held a special place in his heart, as he embraced his role as a guiding elder with open arms.
Donnie’s home was a sanctuary of warmth and hospitality. Known for his culinary prowess, he delighted in grilling steaks for family gatherings, where stories were shared, and laughter echoed into the night. He took pride in his ability to make everyone feel welcome, a testament to his generous spirit and his belief in the blessing of abundance.
His hobbies were a reflection of his industrious nature; whether he was tinkering with cars or maintaining yard equipment, Donnie found satisfaction in the simple pleasures of life. Ever ready to lend a helping hand, he shared the wealth of knowledge accumulated over the years with anyone eager to learn.
The family will honor Donnie’s life in a private ceremony, respecting his wishes for an intimate farewell. While his physical presence will be deeply missed, the love and memories he imparted will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
In their special message, the family expresses a profound sentiment: "He will be greatly missed and will forever be in our memories and forever loved." As we reflect on Donnie’s life, we are reminded of the profound impact one person can have on the world through kindness, humility, and love.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of those who went before him, and may we honor his legacy by living with the same grace and generosity that defined his days.
