In loving memory of Donald Edward Girard, who left this world on March 14, 2026, at the age of 64, after a courageous battle with cancer. Don passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by love and the comfort of his family.
Born on December 19, 1961, in West Palm Beach, FL, Don was the beloved son of the late Roland and Jeanne Girard. He carried forward their legacy of warmth, generosity, and kindness throughout his life. A proud graduate of Jupiter High School in 1980, Don was active in wrestling and baseball, laying the foundation for a lifetime of dedication to sports and community involvement.
Don devoted 42 years to the grocery industry, culminating in his retirement as a meat manager at Publix. His career was marked by dedication and a strong work ethic, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike.
An Eagle Scout in his youth, Don's commitment to service and leadership was lifelong. One of his proudest moments was witnessing his grandson, Leland, achieve the same honor, a testament to the values he imparted to his family. This bond was symbolized by the special Eagle Scout Grandparent pin Leland presented to him.
Don's love for the outdoors was infectious, particularly his passions for fishing and golfing. He cherished time spent in nature with his sons, grandkids, and friends. Even when he ventured onto the golf course alone, Don returned with tales of new friendships, a testament to his outgoing spirit and genuine heart. His talent and enthusiasm for baseball were evident as he served as a World Series Umpire for Little League and College Leagues, where his knowledge and skill earned him great respect.
Above all, Don's heart was most full when watching his grandchildren excel in sports and academics. He beamed with pride at their accomplishments and was their biggest cheerleader both on and off the field.
Don is survived by his devoted wife of six years, Kim, and his loving sons, Chad (Carolynn), Aaron, and Austin (Kayla) Girard. His siblings, Carl, Alfred, Michelle, Kevin, Collette, and Jimmy (Tamara) Girard, shared memories and laughter throughout their lives. Stepchildren Breanna, Alyssa, and Cameron Stansell, along with his cherished grandchildren, Landon, Blake, Wyatt, Clint, Leland, Arabella, and Brantley Girard, and step-grandchildren, Dylan, Ellie, and Demi Stansell, will carry forward his legacy of kindness and love. Don is also remembered fondly by countless nieces, nephews, and friends who were like family to him.
Those who knew Don remember him for his ever-present smile, unwavering positive attitude, and kindness that touched everyone he met. His willingness to help others and his patient mentorship left an indelible mark on many lives.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 4389 Calamondin Blvd, Loxahatchee, FL 33470. In honor of Don's joyful spirit, attendees are encouraged to wear flip flops and casual attire, reflecting the relaxed and welcoming nature that Don embodied.
