It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Donald David Schiwitz Sr., who departed this life at home on February 25, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on December 7, 1945, Donald was a beacon of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. Donald was the cherished son of the late David and Wally Schiwitz, and was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Wally Tackett, and brother, Dennis Schiwitz. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 56 years, Doris, whose partnership and love were the cornerstones of his life. Together, they built a family that was the pride and joy of his heart. He is survived by his loving brother, Edward Schiwitz, who was a lifelong companion and confidant. Donald's legacy lives on through his son, Donald Schiwitz Jr. and his wife Annette, his daughter Carol Reeves and her husband Jay, as well as his treasured grandchildren: Donald Schiwitz III, John Shelby Schiwitz, Sarah Tobin, and Jennifer Schiwitz. He was also blessed with the joy of two great-grandchildren, Kai Schiwitz and Justin Schiwitz, whose presence brought him immense happiness and fulfillment. A proud alumnus of San Marcos High School, Donald graduated in 1964 and soon embarked on a remarkable career at Red Simon Ford. For an impressive 48 years, he dedicated himself as the parts manager, known for his integrity, expertise, and a warm smile that greeted colleagues and customers alike. Donald was a man of simple pleasures and profound joys. He found great solace and satisfaction in tending to his garden, sharing the bountiful fruits of his labor with neighbors, symbolizing his generous spirit. He had a passion for building and creating, a talent he lovingly shared with his grandchildren, crafting not only projects but also cherished memories and invaluable life lessons. As we remember Donald, let us celebrate a life rich in love, loyalty, and laughter. His legacy is etched in the lives he touched, the family he adored, and the community he served with heart and humility. Donald's memory will forever be a guiding light for those he leaves behind. In honoring his wishes, a private family service will be held to commemorate his life and the indelible mark he has left on our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Donald's memory, carrying forward his spirit of generosity and care. Though he is no longer with us physically, Donald David Schiwitz Sr. will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His was a life well-lived, and he will be dearly missed.
