In Loving Memory

Donald “Chuck” Soday
December 24, 1950 — April 8, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Donald "Chuck" Soday on April 8, 2026, at Ochsner Hospice in New Orleans, Louisiana. Chuck was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Born on December 24, 1950, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Chuck was the cherished son of Donald and Margorie Soday, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his dear brother, Frank Soday, and his loving mother-in-law, Gwendolyn M. DeArmond. Chuck's early years were spent in the warmth of a loving family, where he learned the values of kindness, integrity, and service that would guide him throughout his life.
Chuck proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy from 1969 to 1975, a period that not only shaped his character but also instilled in him an enduring sense of duty and honor. After his service, Chuck dedicated 45 years to his career as an industrial electrician, where his expertise and work ethic were admired by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
On December 2, 2006, Chuck married the love of his life, Dana, in a ceremony filled with joy and surrounded by friends and family in New Orleans. Their union was a testament to true partnership and devotion, as they traveled the world together on their beloved Harley Davidson, affectionately referring to Dana as his "Gladys" while exploring new horizons and creating lifelong memories.
Chuck was the proud father of one son, Christopher, and the adoring stepfather to his three "bonus" daughters, Lyndsey Nguyen (Micah), Sydney Schindelmeiser (Andrea), and Shaina (Matt). His love for them was boundless, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness. His laughter and quick wit were infectious, particularly during family games of Trivial Pursuit, where he often won the coveted "ship on a stick."
As a grandfather, Chuck found immense joy in his three grandsons, Sutton, Wiley, and Archie, who lovingly called him "Pop Pop." His presence in their lives was a source of delight and wisdom, and his legacy will continue to inspire them.
Chuck's warm spirit and generous heart touched the lives of all who knew him. His friends and family will forever remember his ability to make them smile and his unwavering support in times of need. He leaves behind a world made better by his presence and a family that will continue to honor his memory through their love for one another.
In celebration of Chuck's life, a graveside service will be held on April 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart gravesite, located on Lake Martin Road, St. Amant, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Chuck's honor to the Susan Komen Cancer Center, in support of his beloved wife, Dana.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to the friends and family who have offered prayers and well wishes during this time. Special thanks to the compassionate care provided by the amazing nurses and Dr. Barton Halton at Ochsner New Orleans Hospice, as well as Dr. Burke Brooks and Dr. Kimberly LeBlanc of Ochsner Oncology. A heartfelt thank you is also extended to Kacie Kartalla, nurse navigator of Ochsner Cancer Center, for her guidance and support.
Chuck Soday's life was a testament to love, service, and laughter. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
