Donald Chase
April 1, 1965 — August 9, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Chase, a cherished soul whose life was as vibrant and engaging as the places he loved to explore. Born on April 1, 1965, in the quaint town of Ionia, Donald was a beacon of kindness and loyalty who blessed everyone he met with his generous spirit and unwavering support.
Donald's life was one of service and dedication, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His unmatched skill as a handyman made him the go-to person for friends and family whenever a project needed attention. Whether it was fixing a car or repairing a household item, Donald approached every task with enthusiasm and a keen eye for detail.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, particularly in taking spontaneous drives to nowhere in particular, just to savor the journey and the unexpected adventures it might bring. His love for exploration and the open road reflected his broader outlook on life—open, adventurous, and filled with endless possibilities.
Donald was predeceased by his father, Albert Chase Sr., and his grandparents, Nina and Harry Chase, as well as Nelly and Fred Lumbert. He was also preceded in death by several beloved aunts and uncles. However, his legacy continues to shine brightly through those he leaves behind. He is survived by his devoted fiancé of eight wonderful years, Dorothy Cupps; his loving mother, Lois Chase; his sons, Jaycob Lewis and Dwayne Somes; his four sisters and one brother; along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who adored him.
Donald's family extends their deepest gratitude to the Lake Funeral Home for their exceptional care and services during this difficult time.
