Don derenzy

May 13, 1943 — March 30, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the passing of Don Derenzy, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully at his home in the loving company of his beloved wife, Beverly, on March 30, 2026. Born on May 13, 1943, in the serene town of Central Lake, Michigan, Don's life was a testament to love, dedication, and a passion for the simple joys that defined his journey. Don was the cherished son of the late William Derenzy and Christine Krchak. Growing up in Central Lake, he developed a deep appreciation for nature, which would later blossom into a lifelong love for hunting and fishing. Don carried these passions throughout his life, sharing them with family and friends, and leaving an indelible mark on those who accompanied him on his many adventures in the great outdoors. On November 7, 1964, Don married the love of his life, Beverly Ann Fate, embarking on a remarkable journey of 61 years together. Their lives were a testament to enduring commitment and love, creating a family filled with warmth and laughter. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, raising their children with the same values and zest for life that Don embodied. Don was a devoted father to his children: Renee O’Neill (Donald), Jeffrey Derenzy (Erin), Corey Derenzy (Penny), Krista McArthur, and Kathryn Koza (Steven). His legacy continues through his 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, who brought endless joy to his life and whom he adored beyond measure. Throughout his career, Don dedicated over 35 years as a respected millwright and foreman for US Plywood and Georgia Pacific. His work ethic and leadership were admired by colleagues and friends alike, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working alongside him. In his leisure time, Don found joy in the camaraderie of sports, whether it was bowling a strike, hitting the greens for a round of golf, or playing softball. These hobbies were not just pastimes but expressions of his vibrant spirit and his appreciation for the bonds of friendship and community. Don is predeceased by his parents, his son Bruce Derenzy, and his sisters, Deanna and Georgia. Though their absence is felt, we find solace in the knowledge that they are reunited in peace. As we celebrate Don’s life, we remember him as a beacon of strength, kindness, and unwavering love. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched, reminding us of the power of family, the beauty of nature, and the joy found in life’s simple pleasures. A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends, honoring Don’s wishes for a serene and intimate farewell. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Don’s memory to a charity of choice, continuing his legacy of generosity and compassion. Don Derenzy will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever linger in the stories shared, the memories cherished, and the lives enriched by his presence. May he rest in eternal peace.
