Herrell Sr., who left this world peacefully on June 24, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of family and friends. Born on December 15, 1972, in Detroit, MI, Don's life was a testament to resilience, love, and the beauty of simple joys.
Don was the cherished son of Catherine Martin and the late Darryl Underwood. While he experienced the heartache of losing his father and his beloved son, Don Herrell Jr., he is survived by his devoted mother, Catherine, and leaves behind a legacy of love through his son, Torrese Herrell, and his precious granddaughter, A'more Herrell. His siblings, Antoine Sr. (JoCheryl), Mary Currie, and Jonita Chambers, along with a special nephew Antoine Herrell Jr., and numerous nephews and nieces, will forever hold him in their hearts.
For the past decade, Don shared his life with Porsche Gregory, the love of his life. Their time together was a source of joy and companionship, a partnership built on mutual respect and affection.
Educated within the Detroit Public Schools System, Don laid the foundation for a life defined by hard work and perseverance. His career spanned various roles in the food service and manufacturing industries, where his unwavering dedication and adaptability shone through. He was a man who embraced every opportunity with a determination to build a better future for his family.
Don had a passion for life that was evident in his hobbies and interests. He found immense joy in riding and building bicycles, fishing, constructing computers, and spending time outdoors in nature. His love for his canine companions was a testament to his kind spirit, as he cherished them as family members. Don's signature smile and unique presence were a comfort to those around him, and his loyal heart and genuine spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A service to honor Don's life will be held on June 29, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Sanctuary House Of Refuge, located at 19646 Schoolcraft, Detroit, MI 48223. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Don are invited to join in celebrating the life of a remarkable man who made an indelible impact on the world around him.
