Dolores Johnson

October 9, 1941 — August 24, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dolores Johnson, who peacefully departed this world at her home on August 24, 2026. Born on October 9, 1941, in the quaint town of LaBarre, Louisiana, Dolores graced this earth with her presence for nearly 85 beautiful years. Dolores was the cherished daughter of Samuel Sr. and Evelyn Johnson, who she now joins in eternal rest along with her siblings, Albert Johnson, Lillie Mae Owens, and Lucille J. Harris, and her treasured granddaughter, Jaleesa Lewis-Hansen. Her legacy of love and wisdom continues to thrive through her surviving family members, her beloved children, Patricia (Emmanuel) Escort and Lolita Duperon; her devoted brother Samuel Johnson Jr. (Albertha); her dear cousin Henry; and her adored great-grandchildren, Ariel Hansen and Rihanna Hansen. A proud alumna of Morganza Elementary School and Capitol High, Dolores carried the values of education and community throughout her life. Her faith was a cornerstone, leading her to become an active member of Star Light Baptist Church, where she embraced her spirituality and was baptized. Later, she found a spiritual home at St. Jude Spirit & Truth Worship Center, where she worshipped with a devoted heart until her passing. Dolores was known far and wide for her warm smile and genuine kindness. She possessed a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, touching countless lives with her generosity. Dolores had a passion for gathering with her family, sharing the rich tapestry of her life stories, and singing along to folk songs that echoed her heritage. Her love for attending church and reading the Bible was a testament to her unwavering faith and love for the Lord. A celebration of Dolores's life will be held on September 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Spirit and Truth Worship Center, located at 2352 Hospital Road, New Roads, Louisiana. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Dolores are welcome to join us in honoring her memory, sharing stories, and celebrating the indelible mark she left on our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Dolores's memory. Let us come together to honor her spirit of giving and compassion, ensuring her legacy continues to inspire and uplift those around us. Though Dolores has departed from this physical realm, her love, lessons, and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, enveloped in the warmth and love she so freely gave.
