October 2, 1934 — June 17, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Dolores C. Silvestre on June 17, 2026, at the age of 91. Dolores departed this world peacefully at Clove Lakes Nursing Home Rehab, after courageously battling many illnesses, surrounded by the love of her family. Dolores was born on October 2, 1934, in Staten Island, New York, to her loving parents Joseph and Margaret DelGrosso. She grew up in a close-knit family, alongside her siblings Rose, Mary, Josephine, and Michael, all of whom have predeceased her but whose memories she cherished deeply throughout her life. In her early years, Dolores showcased a brilliant mind and an unwavering dedication to her education, graduating with honors from St. John's Villa. Her academic accomplishments laid the groundwork for a successful 25-year career as an insurance underwriter with CNA Insurance, where she was respected for her meticulous attention to detail and her unfailing work ethic. Dolores was united in matrimony first with George Gregory, with whom she shared a beautiful life and three cherished children: George Gregory, Diane Gregory, and Stephen Gregory. After his passing, she found love again with her second husband, Mario Silvestre, with whom she continued to build a life filled with laughter, love, and family gatherings. Both George and Mario predecease her, but their memories live on in the hearts of their children and grandchildren. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dolores found immense joy in being actively involved in the lives of her family. Her grandchildren, four in total, and great-grandchildren, numbering seven, were the light of her life. Known for her culinary prowess, Dolores's kitchen was always filled with the enticing aromas of her beloved cooking and baking, a testament to her love and warmth, which she shared with everyone who crossed her threshold. Dolores was a pillar of her community, an active member of Holy Rosary Church in South Beach, and served as a Board of Election worker for over 20 years, demonstrating her commitment to civic duty and her community. Her kind and generous spirit was evident in the way she treated everyone she met, always with a smile and a helping hand. Her love for animals was well-known, having cared for many pets over the years, each one holding a special place in her heart. Dolores also had a passion for the arts, enjoying regular outings to the theater and engaging in reading and crossword puzzles, which kept her mind sharp and her spirit youthful. A service to honor Dolores's extraordinary life will be held on June 26, 2026. Her family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers who provided unwavering care and comfort during Dolores's final days. Though Dolores's physical presence will be missed, her legacy of kindness, love, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her. She leaves behind a family deeply grateful for the love she shared and the memories they will hold dear forever. In celebrating Dolores's life, we remember her as a beacon of love, a woman who embraced life with open arms and an open heart. Her journey may have ended, but her spirit will live on through those she loved so dearly.
