In Loving Memory of D’Moriaun-Deonta Lydell Hicks, Sr. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved D’Moriaun-Deonta Lydell Hicks, Sr., who left this world on May 6, 2026, at the age of 34. Born on August 6, 1991, in Jackson, Mississippi, D’Moriaun was a beacon of light and laughter, whose presence could brighten the darkest of days. His untimely departure was due to complications from epilepsy, a battle he faced with unwavering courage and grace. D’Moriaun was the cherished son of Quiana Hobson-Hicks and Virgil Bilbrew. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Lewis Gatlin, and great-grandparents, Oscar and Lucille Hicks, Sr., Sidney and Helena Spann, Sr., Lilly Bilbrew, and Zack Hobson. His great uncles Willie James, Oscar, Jr., Herman, Charles Herbert, and great aunt Betty Mae also welcomed him into eternal rest. He is survived by a loving family who will continue to honor his legacy: his devoted grandparents, Dorothy Hicks, Doristeen Bilbrew, Johnny Hobson, and Martha Jean Luvene; his beloved children, Jarvin, D’Moriaun, Jr., Willow, and Sevana, whose mother is Shauna Powell. D’Moriaun’s spirit lives on through his siblings, Xavier, Kennide, and LaTishiana Hicks, and Virgil, Jr., April, Tyler, and Tyson Bilbrew. He will forever be remembered by his aunts, LaTisha and Erica Hicks, Brittany and Kimberly Hobson, and LaResha Bilbrew; uncles, Eddie Harvey, Sr., Asmar and Trevon Hicks, and Jermel Prophet; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great aunts and uncles, cousins, close friends, and extended family. D’Moriaun graduated from North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 2011, where he excelled in football, rugby, and wrestling, leaving behind a legacy of sportsmanship and camaraderie. His dedication and resilience extended into his professional life, as he worked for the City of Flowood for over a decade until his health required him to step back in August 2025. Yet, D’Moriaun never ceased to lend a helping hand, whether it was changing tires, moving furniture, or taking care of his family, especially his beloved mother and sisters. His mantra, “I got a family to feed, Taiwan,” was a testament to his unwavering commitment to those he loved. D’Moriaun was known for his quick wit and infectious smile that could uplift anyone in his presence. He possessed a rare ability to lighten any room he entered, providing comfort and joy to all who knew him. His absence leaves an irreplaceable void, and he will be deeply missed. A celebration of D’Moriaun’s life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 11:55 AM at Deans Memorial Funeral Home, located at 745 Hwy 468, Brandon, MS 39046. Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are invited to honor his memory and share in the love he so freely gave. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find solace in the cherished memories and the legacy of love and laughter D’Moriaun leaves behind. As we bid farewell to a remarkable son, father, brother, and friend, we carry his spirit with us, knowing that his light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
