Dionne Maire Bandy

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dionne Maire Bandy, affectionately known as "Pooh Bear," who left this world on August 8, 2026, at the age of 60. Dionne was a beacon of compassion and warmth, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on September 13, 1965, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Dionne was the daughter of the late Christine Bandy and Burnis McBride. She was welcomed into heaven by her beloved parents and her grandparents, Inze Veal Johnson and William Bandy, who preceded her in death. Dionne spent her formative years in Richmond, California, where she graduated from Gompers High School and furthered her education at Contra Costa College in San Pablo, studying Early Childhood Development. Her career was a testament to her dedication and tireless work ethic, spanning various roles from child care worker to insurance processor, and personal tax consultant. Through the Man Power Program, she learned the value of hard work at an early age, ensuring her family was always cared for. A cherished sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Dionne's heart was as expansive as the universe. Her home was a haven for those in need of a listening ear or a place to rest. She was a steadfast presence in the lives of her children: daughters She'Quita, Shontairia, Diamonique, Kimberly, and Tiami, and sons Deonta and ManMan. Her legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren: Tyshon, Semaj, Daylon, Dayisha, Diamond, D2, Prince, and A'Royal. Dionne's family extended beyond her immediate circle, including her dear sisters Yolanda Moore, Zena Franklin, Monza Smith, Joanna Green, Lydia McGill, Juanita Robertson, and Debra Smith, and brothers Bandy Creely (Chris), Shelton Moore, Michael Thomas, and Larry Cook. She was adored by her aunts Marylee Fuller, Constine, and Bennie, her uncle Otis Johnson Bandy, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Known for her love of BINGO, Dionne was often found at the bingo hall with her children or her dear friend Latoya King, cherishing the camaraderie and joy the game brought her. Her love for her family and friends was immeasurable, always ready to offer help, a ride, or simply a warm embrace. The family invites friends and loved ones to a celebration of Dionne's life, which will be held on September 12, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Moose Lodge in El Cerrito, California. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in Dionne's memory. To Dionne, who has taken her rightful place among the stars, we send our love and gratitude. A letter from her sister captures the sentiment of many: "Sister, I love you so much and will miss you beyond what this world can hold. You were my rock, my confidante, and the light in my life. Watch over us and guide us as we navigate this world without you. Until we meet again, rest in heaven."
