Dick Sherman

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dick Sherman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Dick passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant, MI, after courageously battling multiple medical conditions. He was 78 years old. Born on June 1, 1948, in Midland, Dick was the cherished son of Donald and Arleen Sherman (Rasmussen). He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Puckett (Bill Puckett) leaving behind a legacy of love and perseverance. Dick's journey was marked by dedication and service. After graduating from Bullock Creek High School in 1966, he pursued higher education at Northern University where his athletic talents shone on the football field. His sense of duty led him to serve in the Army during the Vietnam War, a testament to his bravery and commitment to his country. On November 4, 1972, Dick married the love of his life, Mary Sherman, with whom he shared 53 years of unwavering devotion and companionship. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising their two daughters, Lisa Farrier and Heather Phillips. Dick's legacy lives on in his five adoring grandchildren: Kayla Farrier, Lauren Zemanek, Kody Farrier, Ethan Zemanek, and Caiden Zemanek, who were a source of immense pride and joy. Dick had a fulfilling career as an electrician with the Dow Chemical Company, where he worked for 30 years. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated and hardworking professional who always had a smile to share. Outside of work, Dick was a man of many passions. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding peace and joy in nature's embrace. He loved to golf and cherished the companionship of his loyal dog, Quincy, who passed not long before him. His warm spirit and sense of humor were evident in every round of golf and every fish he caught. Dick is survived by his beloved wife Mary, his daughters Lisa and Heather, his sister Sandy McDowell (Bob), and his treasured grandchildren. His family and friends will forever hold his memory in their hearts, celebrating a life well-lived and a love that endures.
