Dick Pierce

October 19, 1938 — April 23, 2026

With profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Dick Pierce, who departed this world on April 23, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on October 19, 1938, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Dick was the cherished son of Ben and Carrah Pierce, and the younger brother to Kenneth Pierce, all of whom predeceased him and now welcome him home. Dick's journey began in the bustling streets of Chicago, where he was raised in a loving family that nurtured his many talents, including his remarkable gift for playing the piano. His early education at Lyons Township High School set the stage for his academic pursuits at the University of Iowa, where he earned a degree that would lay the foundation for a distinguished career. In 1961, Dick married Susan, his beloved wife of 64 years, and together they built a life centered around family in Hinsdale, Illinois. They were blessed with three wonderful children: Richard, Edward, and Lauren (David) Richardson, all of whom are left with a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. As a devoted grandfather, Dick's heart overflowed with pride and affection for his three grandchildren, who brought boundless joy to his life. Professionally, Dick's career was marked by integrity and success. After a significant tenure in banking, he found his true calling at Russel Reynolds Associates, where he excelled as an executive search consultant. His career was not merely a testament to his professional acumen but also to his genuine interest in people and his dedication to helping others achieve their potential. Outside of his professional life, Dick was a long-term member of the Hinsdale Golf Club, where he indulged in his passion for golf. Whether on the lush fairways of Hinsdale or enjoying the warm winters in Bonita Springs, Florida, Dick's love for the game was only surpassed by the camaraderie and friendships it fostered. Dick was known for his quick wit and an ever-present willingness to lend a helping hand. He was, as many would say, "the ultimate husband and father," a man whose presence was a comfort and whose absence will be profoundly felt. His life was a tapestry of humor, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. As we remember Dick, we celebrate a life that exemplified decency and devotion. His legacy is a testament to a generation often remarked upon with the adage, "they don't make them like that anymore." Dick Pierce was, indeed, a rare and treasured soul. In honoring Dick's memory, the family invites those who knew him to join in a celebration of his life, where stories will be shared, laughter will be heard, and the music of his enduring spirit will play on in our hearts. Dick's journey has come full circle, leaving behind a world blessed by his presence and a family enriched by his love. As we bid farewell, we hold onto the warmth of his smile and the echoes of his laughter, knowing that his spirit will guide us always. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dick's memory to a charity of your choice, honoring the generosity and compassion that defined his life.
