Dianna Marie (Hentschel) Ealy
December 31, 1947 — August 21, 2026
Dianna Marie (Hentschel) Ealy, a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2026, after a courageous four-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Dianna was born on December 31, 1947, in Traverse City, Michigan, to Thomas and Betty Hentschel, and her life was a testament to love, laughter, and family
Dianna was known for her big heart and her quick wit. She had an uncanny ability to brighten any room with her smile and humor. Her love for photography allowed her to capture moments of joy, love, and beauty. Her affection for animals of all kinds was evident in the way she cared for every creature that crossed her path. So much so that she kept containers of feed on her back porch so she could watch all forms of wildlife through her sliding glass doors.
For over 30 years, Dianna devoted her professional life to the Traverse City Area Public Schools as a school bus driver; Getting generations of children safely to school, including the children and grandchildren of her earliest passengers. She was more than just a driver to the children she transported; she was a trusted friend and a comforting presence, consistently offering kindness and support to students and family in the community.
Dianna was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Betty Hentschel, her sister Linda, and her brother John. She is survived by: Sisters Nancy (Don) Draper and Melanie (Ken) Lampel; sons Andrew and Jeff Ealy, daughter Darla (Ealy) Eimers; and her adored grandson, Quinlan Eimers. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in her role as a mother and grandmother.
Dianna was a one-of-a-kind person who will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
A celebration of Dianna's life will be held on September 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Traverse City VFW Post at 3400 Veterans Dr, Traverse City, MI 49684. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to join in this gathering to honor her memory and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, her children are now asking for help with the expenses left behind after her long battle with cancer. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease some of the financial weight during an already incredibly difficult time.
