It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Diane Scott, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Diane left this world on September 6, 2026, at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy of love, joy, and compassion.
Born on October 17, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio, Diane was the cherished daughter of Willie and Sadie Scott. She was raised in a lively and loving family, the bonds of which she carried forward throughout her life. Preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Neitika Carter, and her siblings George, Earl, Otis Sr., Willa Mae, Betty Jean, and Kathleen Scott, Diane is survived by a devoted family who will carry her spirit in their hearts.
Diane was the proud and loving mother of Detrice, Detra, Denise, and Darlene. Her nurturing spirit extended to her 14 grandchildren—Tiara, Dale, Kevin, Dalevontay, Tsephanyah, Larica, Phaquana, Latrice, Lateekia, David, Lashontae, Treyvon, Kayla, and Demetrius—each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her legacy continues through her 28 great-grandchildren, a testament to the love and warmth she shared with her family.
A graduate of Rawlings High School in Cleveland, Diane spent her career as a private duty nurse, offering care and compassion to those in need. Her dedication to helping others extended beyond her profession; she was a member of Straight Up Missionary Baptist Church, where she found fellowship and spiritual fulfillment.
Diane was known for her vibrant personality and zest for life. She loved to dance, cook, and host family gatherings, bringing joy and laughter to every occasion. Her home was a sanctuary for children, where her welcoming smile and warm embrace made everyone feel like family. Diane had an innate ability to uplift those around her, often offering sage advice with a smile that could light up any room. She was always the best-dressed in the room, her style as impeccable as her spirit was radiant.
A service to celebrate Diane's life will be held on September 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Gaines Funeral Home, located at 5386 Lee Rd., Maple Heights, Ohio, 44137. Friends and family are invited to join together in honoring her memory and the indelible impact she made on the lives of those she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Diane's generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
Diane Scott will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
