Diane Elizabeth Peters

The world became a little dimmer as we announce the passing of Diane Elizabeth Peters, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Diane was born on February 17, 1946, in Burlington, Vermont, to Jane Elizabeth Lobeck and Raymond Leo Peladeau. She peacefully departed this world in her sleep on August 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Diane was predeceased by her parents, Jane and Raymond, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms in the afterlife. She is survived by her beloved children, Jonathan Peters, Benjamin Peters, and Bethany Peters. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Andrew, Jonathan, Xavier, Hunter, Olivia, Jack, and Riley, as well as her great-grandchildren, Kalio and Jade. Diane is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Janet Finney, and her niece and nephews, Elizabeth, Chad, Christopher, and Annie. Diane's life was marked by a passion for education and antiques. She dedicated many years to working at the American School for the Deaf and Beckit Academy. Her love for antiques led her to own and operate an antique store in Vermont and, later, another in Riverton, Connecticut, after moving back to the state she called home. Her hobbies were a reflection of her vibrant spirit and curious mind. Diane loved gardening, often found tending to her flower beds with care and joy. She was an exceptional baker, sharing her culinary creations with those around her. Her avid interest in collecting antiques and knick-knacks—such as marbles, buttons, seashells, and books—was well known and admired by those close to her. Diane was fiercely independent and always ready for a conversation or an adventure. Her enormous heart and generous spirit were evident in her willingness to help others, including assisting her son at his restaurants. She adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. Diane's warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. In accordance with Diane's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate her life. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many facilities and caregivers who supported Diane throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Diane's memory. As we mourn the loss of this remarkable woman, we find solace in the knowledge that Diane is embraced by heaven, surrounded by love and eternal peace. May God bless our family and Diane's close friends during this time of sorrow.
