Diana J Walsh

With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the passing of Diana J. Walsh, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Diana peacefully departed this life in her sleep on July 17, 2026, at Crescent Care Nursing Home. She was 86 years old. Born on September 26, 1939, in Chicago, IL, Diana was the cherished daughter of the late Norma Plan Goodeon and Alexander Goodeon. Raised in a warm and loving family, she shared her formative years with her siblings, the late Lawrence Goodeon and Phyllis Carlson, who resides in Tennessee. Diana’s life was marked by her two marriages, first to James H. McGuire and later to Roger J. Walsh. Together, they built a remarkable family that became the center of Diana’s world. She was the devoted mother to Tracy (Ronald) Rickerson, Jonalyn (Richard) Twigg, Shannon (John) Houck, Blair (LaToya) McGuire, Sharon, and Randy Walsh. Her nurturing spirit extended to her cherished grandchildren: Jayme (Glenn) Cardin, Justin (Kim) Henry, Tyler Bachelder, Ashley Bachelder, Hope Twigg, Autumn Houck, Melanie Rickerson, and Ronnie Rickerson. Diana was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: McKenzie, Mogan, and Jaxson Henry, and Silas, Demitri, and Lily Rickerson, each of whom brought her immense joy. Diana graduated from high school in Bridgeport and went on to dedicate over 20 years of her professional life to ABF Trucking in Illinois. Her colleagues remember her as a dedicated and reliable worker who always brought a sense of humor and warmth to the workplace. In her personal life, Diana was a woman of many passions. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was reading, listening to music, fishing, or tending to her garden. Her artistic soul thrived through drawing and crafting, and she relished evenings spent watching Westerns like "Gunsmoke" and "Svengoolie." Her love for 1950s music and Johnny Mathis was well known, as was her infectious laughter that could light up any room. Diana had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel supported and understood, never judged. Diana was predeceased by her parents, Norma and Alexander Goodeon, and her loving husband Roger Walsh. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, cherished by her surviving family members and her extended family, including nieces and nephews Jay (John) Hawkins, Tammy Poteet, Natalie, and Scott Goodeon. Her presence will also be deeply missed by her Fox Lake Block family, the Michael Hamm family, and her Hickory Ave Street family. In honor of Diana’s compassionate spirit, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization close to her heart. Diana J. Walsh will be remembered for her unwavering love, her contagious laughter, and her gentle, kind-hearted nature. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
