Dexter was born on December 31, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland, to loving parents John and Elisabeth Ellison, who have since predeceased him. Dexter's life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering commitment to family and community. His journey was marked by deep personal growth and a remarkable ability to touch the lives of those around him. He was a devoted husband to Keisha Ellison-Abdullah, with whom he shared 15 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving family, nurturing six children: Shaheeda Abdullah, Dedra Abdullah, Shakia and Sharquell Abdullah, Miya Abdullah, and Destiny Ellison-Abdullah. His legacy is further carried forward by his cherished five grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with wisdom and warmth. Dexter grew up alongside his siblings, John Jr. Ellison and Mary Ellison, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. Their close-knit family roots in Baltimore served as a foundation for the compassionate and dedicated man Dexter would become. Throughout his life, Dexter showed an unwavering dedication to his loved ones and his community. He was known for his kind spirit, infectious laughter, and a heart that embraced everyone he met. A celebration of Dexter's life will be held on June 10, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Vaughn Greene Funeral Services, located at 4905 York Road.
