DEVIN SHAWN MASON SR.

May 4, 1981 — October 17, 2026

Celebrating the Life of Devin Shawn Mason Sr. (“Shawn”) Devin Shawn Mason Sr., affectionately known as “Shawn” to most, was more than a brother. He was a light to everyone who knew him, a loyal friend, and a beloved soul whose presence can never be replaced. Born on May 4, 1981, to the late Wendell and Debbie Mason Sr., Shawn grew up in Capitol Heights, Maryland, where he received his education through the Prince George’s County Public School System. Growing up with Shawn was always an adventure. He had a special way of finding joy in life’s simplest moments and sharing that joy with those around him. His infectious smile could light up any room, and his resilience in the face of life’s challenges was truly inspiring. Shawn reminded those around him of the importance of perseverance, maintaining a positive outlook, and living each day with a grateful heart. Although Shawn’s time with us was far too short, the impact he made will last a lifetime. The love he shared, the laughter he brought, and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His kindness, joyful spirit, and unforgettable presence will never be forgotten. Shawn’s life was a blessing, his memory is a treasure, and he will be loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Shawn’s legacy will continue through his beloved son, Devin Mason Jr.; his brothers, Wendell A. Mason Jr. (Alecia Foulton-Mason), Kevin Mason Sr. (Latona Mason), and Tayron Mason Sr. (Dominique Mason); his 10 nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. Shawn was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Debbie Mason Sr.; his grandparents, Aron and Racheal Mason and Elizabeth Proctor; and his uncles, Martin Mason and Rodrick Proctor. Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we find comfort in the love he gave us and the memories we will carry forever. May Shawn, along with all those who preceded him in death, find eternal peace together in paradise. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts, deeply loved, never forgotten, and profoundly missed. Rest peacefully, Shawn. Your light will continue to shine through everyone blessed to have known and loved you. Forever loved and remembered, until we meet again. Amen. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” - Matthew 5:4 (KJV).
