January 22, 2001 — May 1, 2026

It is with profound sorrow and deep gratitude for his life that we announce the passing of our beloved Devante Griffin, who left this world far too soon on May 1, 2026, at the tender age of 25. Born on January 22, 2001, in Denver, Colorado, Devante was a radiant spirit whose life was a testament to love, courage, and the joy of living fully. Devante was the cherished son of Lequette Reed and Caleb Griffin, and a beacon of light to all who knew him. A graduate of the Christian Academy in Farmington, NM, he was a young man of remarkable character and vivacity. Devante embraced life with the heart of a daredevil and the soul of an adventurer, always ready to take on a new challenge. His fearless nature was best captured in a treasured memory shared by his mother: one day, as they walked home from the library, Devante, with his trademark laugh, climbed a wall and performed a backflip, much to the bewilderment and awe of those who watched. It was this spirit of daring and his infectious laughter that endeared him to everyone. Among his greatest joys was spending time with his family, especially his beloved other half and their two beautiful daughters. Devante's love for his family was boundless, and he cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will forever be etched in their hearts. Devante is survived by a loving family who will continue to honor his legacy: his siblings Kaycee Griffin, Klarinza Griffin, Josiah Reed, Aphiahn Skipper, Mya Griffin, and Jace Griffin; his uncle and aunts Joe Reed Jr., Jason Reed, Jonathan Reed, Jarod Reed, Rebecca Griffin, Elizabeth Griffin, and Micah Griffin; and his grandparents Nancy Griffin and Joe Reed Sr. Each of them carries the warmth of his spirit and the glow of his smile within them. A service to celebrate Devante's life will be held on June 13, 2026, at the Word of Life Church. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Devante are invited to join in honoring the joy he brought into this world. In these difficult times, the family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has shown support and kindness. Your love and prayers mean the world to them. Those who wish to contribute in memory of Devante can do so through the memorial fund set up under Lequette Reed on GoFundMe. In remembrance of Devante, we invite you to cherish every moment, dare to laugh in the face of fear, and love unconditionally, just as he did. As we bid farewell to a remarkable son, brother, father, and friend, we hold his memory close, knowing that his spirit will continue to inspire us every day.
