With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Derrick Lamond Mckelvey, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, who departed this life on October 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on January 6, 1975, in Fort Worth, Texas, Derrick's life was a tapestry of joy, love, and resilience, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Derrick's journey began in Fort Worth, where he was born to Frank and Kathleen Ingram, who nurtured their son with love and wisdom that he carried throughout his life. Derrick grew up in a home filled with warmth and laughter, alongside his siblings, Demetra, Latonya, Jewel, Michaela, and Jared, each of whom he cherished deeply. In 1994, Derrick graduated from high school, ready to embark on the next chapter of his life. With a passion for all things automotive, he pursued further education in automotive school, which led to a fulfilling 20-year career in the automotive industry. Derrick was known not only for his skilled hands but for his big heart, always willing to lend a helping hand or share a laugh with his colleagues. In 1999, Derrick married the love of his life, Virginia. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, spanning 30 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful family, blessed with three children: Ebony, Isidro, and Cali Ann, who were the lights of Derrick's life. As a father, he was nurturing and supportive, always present for his children's triumphs and challenges. His love extended to his two precious grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. Derrick was a man of faith, a dedicated member of the Church of the Living God alongside his father. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through life's challenges with grace and humility. He was a devoted New England Patriots fan and found solace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing and spending quality time with his family. Known for his outgoing nature and infectious humor, Derrick had an uncanny ability to make others smile. He was selfless and compassionate, often described as someone who would give the shirt off his back to help another. Derrick's presence was a balm for the soul, his laughter a melody that brightened the darkest days. Derrick is preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Frank Ingram Sr. and Erma Mitchell, who surely welcomed him with open arms. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by his cherished wife Virginia; his devoted parents Frank and Kathleen Ingram; his beloved children Ebony, Isidro, and Cali Ann; his siblings Demetra, Latonya, Jewel, Michaela, and Jared; and his two adored grandchildren. A celebration of Derrick's life will be held on November 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Mount Cavalry Baptist Church, located at 2208 Avenue O, Lubbock, Texas. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Derrick are invited to join in honoring his memory. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at UMC for their dedicated care and kindness during this difficult time.
