With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, and friend, Derial Morris Sr., who departed this life on June 17, 2026, at the age of 55. Derial was born on January 23, 1971, in the vibrant city of Berkeley, California, to his loving parents, Hazel Harriel and John Morris Sr. Derial's life was a tapestry woven with resilience, love, and an undeniable zest for life. Though his journey was not always easy, he walked his path with courage and authenticity. He proudly graduated from what he humorously referred to as "jail a testament to his unyielding spirit and ability to rise above challenges. From an early age, Derial was captivated by the rhythm of life, a passion he expressed through his love for rapping and storytelling. His talent with words was matched only by his infectious enthusiasm for sharing "old school" stories, punctuated by his signature phrase, "ya feel me tho Maint” he was the realist “Realionaire” stories were not just tales of the past, but lessons filled with wisdom and humor, bridging generations and bringing people together. Derial was a man who loved to dance, often reminiscing about his days in the early '80s when he was known for his Michael Jackson moves. He was a cherished member of the Fresh Kids alongside the Acorn crew, where he found a community that shared his love for music and dance. Family was the cornerstone of Derial's life. He was preceded in death by his father, John Morris Sr.; his cherished son, Derial Morris Jr.; his father-in-law, A.C Harriel; his grandmother, Doretha Williams; his grandfather, Lee Andrew Sr.; his aunt, Ella Mae Williams; his uncle, Anthony Williams; and his great aunt, Willie Mae. Their memories lived on in his heart, and now, he joins them in eternal rest. Derial leaves behind a legacy of love through his surviving children, Daron Morris and Poppa Morris. He is also survived by his devoted siblings: sisters Doretha Harriel, Lawanda Harriel, Niki Morris, and Nina Collin’s-Morris; brothers Johnny Patterson, Jamael Harriel, John Morris Jr., Kevin Morris, Jerrell Morris, Isaiah Morris, and Andonal Morris. Though he had no grandchildren, his family remains his greatest pride, and they will continue to honor his memory through their own lives. A celebration of Derial's life will be held on July 10, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Bakers, located in Acorn. We invite all who knew and loved Derial to join us in remembering a life that touched so many hearts. As we gather to celebrate his life, let us dance, share stories, and keep his memory alive through the music and laughter he cherished. Derial Morris Sr. was a beacon of joy and strength, a man who embraced life fully and inspired those around him to do the same. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the stories we share, the songs we sing, and the dance of life that continues in his honor.
