It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Dereon Fields, a bright and cherished young soul whose life was a beacon of joy and inspiration. Born on March 27, 2009, in East Chicago, Indiana, Dereon was a loving son to Denicka Fields and the late Glenn DaWayne Patterson Sr. He shared his vibrant spirit with the world until August 8, 2026, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Dereon was a student at The Crossing High School, where he diligently worked towards his high school diploma. Though his life was brief, it was filled with dreams and aspirations that promised a future as expansive and varied as the entertainment industry he hoped to join. Those who loved him watched with eager anticipation as Dereon prepared to carve out a path uniquely his own. Known for his intelligence and ambition, Dereon's radiant smile and infectious laughter were a source of light in the lives of his family and friends. He had a remarkable ability to lift the spirits of anyone around him, ensuring that every gathering was filled with happiness and mirth. His deep connection with his family was evident in the special bond he shared with his siblings, always ready to lend a helping hand or a word of encouragement to those he held dear. Dereon's passing is mourned by his beloved mother, Denicka Fields, and his family, who will forever cherish the beautiful memories they made together. He is preceded in death by his father, Glenn DaWayne Patterson Sr., and his grandfather, Dennis Fields, both of whom welcomed him into their eternal embrace. A service to celebrate Dereon's life will be held on August 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Divinity Funeral Home, located at 831 Main St., East Chicago, Indiana. Friends and family are invited to gather in honor of Dereon's memory, sharing stories of his life and the joy he brought to everyone around him. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Dereon's memory may consider making a donation to a charity of their choice, in the spirit of his generous and caring nature.
