With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Derek Frezzell, who peacefully left this world on June 4, 2026, at the age of 63, in the comfort of his home in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. Born on January 6, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York, Derek's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the enduring strength of family ties. Derek was a man of many facets—a devoted father, a loving brother, and a steadfast friend. He is survived by his 15 children, whose lives he enriched with his wisdom and humor, and his 4 sisters, who shared in his journeys and joys. He was also the proud grandfather to 6 grandchildren, each of whom he adored and cherished deeply. Derek's family was his greatest pride, and he dedicated his life to ensuring their happiness and well-being. Throughout his life, Derek was known for his generous spirit and unwavering commitment to those he loved. He touched the lives of many with his kind heart and a smile that could light up any room. His warmth and laughter were infectious, and he had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel at ease in his presence. Derek's passions extended beyond his family. He was an avid traveler, always eager to explore new places and cultures. His journeys brought him to many corners of the world, but no matter where he went, he carried a piece of Brooklyn with him. Derek's love for his birthplace was evident in the stories he shared and the pride he took in his roots. A celebration of Derek's remarkable life will be held on June 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Lake Side Events, located at S07 Brentwood Ave, Greenwood, MS 38930. Family, friends, and all whose lives Derek touched are warmly invited to join us in remembering and honoring this extraordinary man.
