Derek Budke
May 4, 1970 — August 15, 2026
Derek Budke, a cherished soul known for his perpetual smile and unyielding spirit, passed away on August 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with a body that stopped working. Born on May 4, 1970, in Beloit, Kansas, Derek was the beloved son of Sylvia and the late Richard Budke.
Derek's life was a testament to humility, kindness, and familial devotion. He was a proud alumnus of St. John’s Catholic High School, graduating in 1989, and furthered his education at North Central Kansas Technical College. His career spanned over a decade at Carrico Implement in Beloit, Kansas, where he worked from 1990 to 2001 in various roles, including as an assembler, equipment cleaner, and receptionist. Derek was known for his work ethic and dedication, traits that endeared him to colleagues and friends alike.
A devoted father, Derek is survived by his son Landon and daughter-in-law Allie, who were the light of his life. His legacy of love and laughter continues through them. Derek is also survived by his loving mother Sylvia; his brothers Brent (Kim), Jason (Jama), Jeremy (Lashae), and Jonathan (Chris); and his sisters Licia (Shaye) and Sheila (Chad). Each of them cherished Derek's role as an amazing brother and confidant.
Derek's life was enriched by his passions. He held a deep love for hunting and trapping, activities he joyfully shared with his siblings during his youth. He was also an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular fondness for Kansas State University, celebrating their victories with zeal.
A man of faith, Derek was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church for as long as his health permitted. Even when he could no longer attend in person, he found solace in receiving communion as a patient at RCC.
Derek's warm heart and genuine nature left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He was known for his honesty, often sharing his thoughts candidly, and always with a sense of humor. He was particularly fond of jesting that his brother-in-law Kim had "peaked."
In honor of Derek's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. The family kindly requests that those wishing to honor Derek's memory consider making a donation to a charity of their choice.
Though Derek's physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit, warmth, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
