Born on April 27, 1944, in Illinois, Denny's life was a vibrant tapestry of love, service, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. Denny was the cherished son of Bernadine West (Robert’s) and Floyd “Slick” Wren, who preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his loving wife, Nancy West, his sister Jenny, and his great-granddaughter, Shy. His legacy lives on through his devoted sisters, Cindy and Roxanne, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a constellation of close friends who were touched by his boundless kindness and generosity. A proud patriot, Denny served his country with honor as a paratrooper during the Vietnam War. His bravery and dedication to duty were a testament to his unwavering spirit and commitment to the values he held dear. Denny's military service was celebrated through his lifelong membership with the American Legion Following his military service, Denny embarked on a remarkable career as a labor law attorney, where his tenacious spirit and keen intellect saw him advocating for justice, even taking cases to the Supreme Court. His leadership as President of the Teamsters further exemplified his dedication to the cause of workers' rights. Yet, Denny was a man of many talents, and he cherished the time he spent as a semi-truck driver, traversing the vast landscapes of America. To his grandchildren, Denny was nothing short of extraordinary—a Superman, a Santa Claus, and a saint with an ever-present halo. His love for fishing was well-known, and he delighted in sharing his knowledge of the best spots and techniques with those lucky enough to join him by the water's edge. Denny's life was a testament to the power of kindness, and his generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has shared a kind word in remembrance of "OUR GRANDPA."
