In Loving Memory

Dennis Thornton Jefferson
January 13, 1960 — May 14, 2026
It is with a heavy heart yet a spirit full of gratitude and love that we announce the passing of Dennis Thornton Jefferson, affectionately known as "Uncle Dennis" to all who knew him. Dennis departed this life on May 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. He left us surrounded by the love of his family, just as he lived—deeply connected to those who cherished him. Born on January 13, 1960, in Charleston, Missouri, Dennis was a beacon of light and joy to everyone he encountered.
Dennis was the cherished son of the late Mr. R.D. Jefferson and Mrs. Margaret Jefferson. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, his grandparents Alfreda and Frank Ingram, and Bennie and Callie Jefferson, as well as two sisters, Patrichia Cathron and Irrither Nelson, and his dear aunt, Roberta Tate. Though we mourn his loss, we take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with those he loved so dearly.
Dennis leaves behind a large and loving family to continue his legacy. He is survived by his step-child, Grasa McClure, and his ten devoted sisters: Delores Jefferson, Brenda Jefferson, Joann Wiggins, Alfreda (Stonewall) Johnson, Chantall (Lopez) Moore, Delores Jetterson, Mona Jefferson, Sarah (Anthony) Bell, Rozena (Ed) Hutchinson, and Marneka Riley. His three brothers, Charles (Evon) Cassell, Michael (Annie) Jefferson, and Eric Cox, will forever hold him close in their hearts. His memory will also be cherished by his special nieces, Tanisha "Nuddie Nude" Ingram and Tiffany (Corey) Anderson, and his special nephews, Juwanza "Moe" Ingram, Lamiel Hunter, Deniquay Jefferson, Herman Jefferson, Akeem Brown, Vichalon Jefferson, Nickolas Ingram, Shameris Jefferson, Ferrian (CeCi) Jefferson, and Turrell (Ruby) Corbitt. Dennis also leaves behind his special aunt, Maxine Hill, three uncles, David (Patricia) Rodgers, Marshall (Mammie) Rodgers, and Gene (Loretta) Rodgers, along with a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Dennis was a man of many talents and passions. Whether he was playing cards, fishing, dancing, or singing along to Tupac songs, Dennis embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He was a gifted cook—a true jack of all trades—and his culinary creations brought family and friends together in celebration and love. Dennis had a remarkable ability to light up a room, and gatherings truly began when he arrived. His infectious spirit and genuine warmth made everyone feel welcomed and loved.
A service to honor and celebrate Dennis's life will be held on May 21, 2026, at 9:15 AM at Laurence E. Moon Funeral Home, located at 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., Flint, Michigan 48505. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Ashle Merritt (HHA) Hospice, Jennifer Gillespie, and Precious Lewis "My Baby" Tanisha Ingram, Lillian Lyles, and all those who reached out with calls, dishes, and well-wishes during this difficult time. Your generosity and kindness are greatly appreciated and have provided immense comfort.
Dennis lived a life full of love, laughter, and friendship, and he leaves behind a legacy of joy and togetherness. While he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those he touched. As we say goodbye to our beloved Dennis, we celebrate a life well-lived and a heart truly loved. May he rest in eternal peace, forever remembered and forever cherished.
