Dennis Le'Roy Griffin, fondly known as "Moses," passed away peacefully during an afternoon nap at the age of 91. Born on March 28, 1935, in Miami, Florida, at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Dennis brought warmth and humor to all who knew him. He was the cherished son of Jesse and Mary Griffin and was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Dennis and Elizabeth Griffin; his parents; his father-in-law, Robert Walker Sr., and Betty Walker; his brothers-in-law, Marvin "Fast" Walker and Vincent McClendon; his sister-in-law, Olivia Walker; and his best friend and brother, Ronald Oliver.
Dennis leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through his surviving family: his four sons, Dominick Cherry, Gary Walker Sr., Evan Walker, and Timothy Walker Sr.; his grandchildren, Precious Brown, Gary Walker Jr., Eiran Walker, Jabrail Rivers, Amya Hightower, Ayden Watkins, Timothy Walker Jr., and Gianna Walker; and his great-granddaughter, Khalia Brown. He also leaves his devoted stepchildren, Gerald Walker, Lydia Walker, Marvin Walker, and Charlene Walker, and his godson, Larry Williams. A host of in-laws, including Robert (Sherry) Walker, Marcia Walker, Brenda (Melvin) Rushton, Evelyn McClendon, Loretta Walker, Carl (Barbara) Walker, Carol (David) Freeman, and Darlene McFadden, will forever hold his memory dear.
Dennis's life was rich with accomplishments and adventures. After graduating from The Famous Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama, in 1953, he pursued studies in Computer Science at the University of Birmingham. His career journey took him to Youngstown, Ohio, where he excelled in various trades, including his work as a TV repairman and later as a master carpenter, mason, and plumber. He was renowned for his community service, offering his skills at reasonable prices, and was the proud founder of A-Plummer Man LLC, a business that left a lasting impact on the community.
Dennis's passion for motorcycles and technology was evident in his role as the foundational Ohio Chapter President of the Comanchero Motorcycle Club, which he helped establish with his dear friend, Ronald "Juice" Oliver. Together, they bridged international traditions with local culture, leaving an indelible mark on the club and its members.
Known for his generosity, warm smile, and sense of humor, Dennis was always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. His love for pets, his computer, and the open road on his motorcycle were just a few of the many joys in his life.
A celebration of Dennis's life will be held on September 5, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Gregory-Martin Funeral Home, located at 292 Madison Ave, Youngstown, Ohio.
