It is with profound sorrow , yet with great faith, We honour the life of Mr. Dennis Earl Eichorn.,who passed away peacefully at Westerville Ohio Post Acute Care. Born on October 1, 1945, in Newark, New Jersey. Dennis was a cherished son of Mr. Earl Eichorn and Ms. Mary Dodds-Eichorn. He was predeceased by his beloved brothers, Mr. Lloyd William Eichorn and Mr. Albert George Tenpenny, best friends, Mr. Michael E. Anderson and Mr. Manuel. Dennis leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be remembered by his best friends and caregivers and legal custodians, Mr. Salvador Banda and Mr. Steven Davis. Dennis's life was a testament to dedication, learning, and service. A proud alumnus of Ayden-Grifton High School's class of 1963, he pursued higher education with a passion, graduating from East Carolina University in 1968 and further advancing his studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His hunger for knowledge was a defining trait, and he was known for his love of reading and continuous learning. In service to his country, Dennis joined the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacist Technician during the Vietnam War, serving from 1968 to 1972. His commitment to service extended beyond his military years, as he contributed to his community through his work with CALTRANS and later at Goodwill. Dennis's faith played a significant role in his life. He was visited by priests and Eucharistic Team members of St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church in Westerville, Ohio, where he found solace and community. His life was enriched by friendships and experiences. Dennis cherished the times spent traveling with Salvador to Tijuana, Rosarito, and Gaunajato Mexico and San Diego, attending the Circleville Pumpkin Show, and enjoying the festive spirit of Put-In-Bay, Columbus Zoo and festivals with friends Salvador, Mike, and Steven. Known for his love of animals, Dennis held a special place in his heart for all creatures, especially cats and dogs, including his dear Lucky and Bonita. Dennis was a man of many facets—serious yet loving, caring, forgiving, spiritual and generous. He was known for his fun-loving spirit, particularly during the Christmas season, when he would joyfully send holiday and birthday cards to friends well in advance. His love, prayers, and shared moments with friends and family are treasured memories for all who knew him. Dennis was known for his devotion to prayer life with Our Jesus Christ. The Requiem Mass with military honours will be observed on October 1, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, located at 313 North State Street, Westerville, Ohio 43082. In memory of Dennis, designate to Eucharistic Team, Veterans group, Food pantry of St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church. Dennis's friends and caregivers extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, nursing assistants, and all staff of Westerville Post Acute Care, formerly ProMedica & Heartland, and Leaf Cremation in Columbus, Ohio. Special thanks are also given to the priests, Eucharistic ministers, and visitors of St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church for their unwavering love, support, and prayers. Dennis's life was a beautiful journey of love, service, and friendship. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. "Eternal rest grant unto Dennis, O Lord and let Your perpetual light shine upon Dennis, May the souls of all the faithfully departed, through The Mercy of God, rest in eternal peace."
