Dennis Horton
September 1, 1954 — June 6, 2026
It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Dennis Horton, who peacefully left this world surrounded by his loving family on June 6, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on September 1, 1954, in Owensboro, Dennis was a beacon of love, laughter, and kindness, and his absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of many.
Dennis was the son of the late William Thomas and Ruth Horton. He was also predeceased by his beloved Aunt Louise and his lifelong best friend, Glen Abel. Despite these losses, Dennis remained a pillar of strength and warmth for his surviving family: his devoted wife of 26 years, Karen Horton; his loving children, Jennifer Williams-Little, and Brad Williams; and his treasured grandchildren, Christian Williams, Kyla Williams, Summer Williams, Imerie Williams, and Breyson Williams-Little, who were the lights of his life. His cousins, Linda Reed, Jerry (Beth), Kenny (Cindy), Mike (Cheryl), Tommy (Gayle) Turi; and his extended family, Greg (Kim) Shannon and family. Dennis was also blessed with the companionship of many dear friends, including Everett Young, David Turley, Cassie Wade, and his loyal dog Maggie Mae.
A graduate of Daviess County High School in 1972, Dennis went on to dedicate 46 years of his career as a tech 2 at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. His work ethic and commitment were admired by colleagues and friends alike.
A man of many talents, Dennis was a true jack of all trades, always ready to lend a helping hand. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was shooting at the range, barbecuing, or taking his jeep out for a spin. The great outdoors was his sanctuary, and he relished every moment spent traveling or in the company of loved ones.
Dennis was known for his quirky laugh and warm smile, both of which had the power to light up any room. He had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel valued and welcome, never meeting a stranger in his journey through life. His legacy of kindness and generosity has touched countless lives, leaving a trail of cherished memories behind.
In honor of Dennis's memory, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, through their memorial fund, "In Honor and Remembrance of Dennis Horton" at https://donate.cancer.org/.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Dennis's final days. As we remember Dennis, let us embrace his spirit of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness, living life with no regrets, just as he did. His story will continue to be told through the lives he touched and the love he shared—a legacy that will forever be cherished.
