On May 11, 2026, the world lost a remarkable soul as Dennis D. Vannoy, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away due to a medical condition. Born on July 2, 1963, in Jacksonville, Florida, Dennis was a beacon of sincerity and fairness, celebrated for his genuine kindness and selfless spirit.
Dennis was the cherished son of the late Benjamin F. Vannoy and Sarah M. Rodgers Vannoy. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Janice Rodgers and Veronica V. Williams, his brother Darrell D. Vannoy, and his grandparents David and Flora Mae Rodgers. His legacy of love and integrity lives on in those who survive him: his devoted wife of 35 years, Mary Bennett Vannoy, his treasured daughter Denise Vannoy of Washington, D.C., and his precious granddaughter, who was the light of his life. Dennis also leaves behind his siblings: Shelia V. Buford (Leslie Sr.) of North Carolina, Michelle Cromwell (Stewart Sr.) of Maryland, Varnette V. Harris (Larry) of North Carolina, Calvin Vannoy (Marcia) of Houston, Texas, and Benjamin Vannoy Jr. (Valerie) of Atlanta, Georgia, along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles who will forever cherish his memory.
A proud graduate of the Class of 1982, Dennis dedicated his life to the service of others through his career in the medical health profession. For 28 years, he worked diligently as a Certified Nursing Assistant with Universal Health Services in Washington, D.C., where his compassion and dedication brought comfort to countless patients and colleagues.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dennis was an avid fisherman, finding solace in the gentle rhythm of casting a line and the quiet anticipation of a catch. His deep passion for the New York Giants was well known, and he never missed a game, cheering with unwavering loyalty and enthusiasm. Those who knew Dennis admired his sincerity, fairness, and humble nature, qualities that left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
A service to celebrate Dennis's life will be held on May 27, 2026, at 11:45 a.m. at Mt. Hilliard Baptist Church, located at 4116 West Magnolia St., Temple Hills, Maryland. Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Dennis are invited to attend and share in the memories of a life well-lived.
