Denise Elizabeth Steadman

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Denise Elizabeth Steadman, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully on August 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Denise was born on February 22, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio, to Larry Earl Hinton Sr. and Lorena Hinton. She was preceded in death by her cherished grandparents, Glena Beasley and Elizabeth Giddens, her beloved parents, and her precious granddaughter, Niajya Aanika Horsley. Denise's life was a testament to the strength and warmth of her character. She was a 1969 graduate of Columbus East High School, a place where she began to cultivate her incredible sense of humor and deep care for others. Her career spanned several decades, marked by her dedication and service at Frazier’s Fish, Columbus City Schools as a bus driver, and later, at RTA transportation company in New Orleans, a city she came to love. A devoted member of Life Center Cathedral in New Orleans, Denise was known not only for her faith but also for her love of Mardi Gras, shopping, and, above all, cooking. Her kitchen was a place of joy and love, where she delighted in preparing meals for her family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and hospitality. Denise is survived by her siblings, Larry Earl Hinton Jr., Alexis Hinton, Keith Stewart, and Elleana Bates, along with her children, Larry, Dalyonda, and Dakia Horsley. Her legacy of love continues through her 10 grandchildren, Troy Jr., Tyrel, Jayvon, Dylan, Telon, Demetrius, D'marco, Jalynda, Kinte Jr., and Abdoulaye, and her 11, soon to be 12, great-grandchildren. Her large extended family of cousins and friends will dearly miss her presence. Denise's life was marked by her generous spirit and a heart that knew no bounds. She was a beacon of kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand, and her laughter was a source of joy to all who knew her. A service celebrating Denise’s life will be held on September 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Her family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who have been a part of Denise's journey and invite those who wish to make a donation in her memory to do so to a charity of their choice. The family wishes to share this special message: "Forever in our hearts. Always my mother; Forever my friend." Denise Elizabeth Steadman will be remembered as a woman of grace, humor, and generosity. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
