With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Denise Brescia, a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, who departed this world peacefully at her home on March 12, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on April 28, 1952, in the vibrant borough of the Bronx, New York, Denise was the beloved daughter of the late Floyd and Rose Young, whose guiding hands shaped the compassionate and loving woman she became. Denise's life was a tapestry of love and devotion, woven with threads of family, friendship, and service. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Vincent Brescia, whom she married on September 15, 1986. Together, they crafted a life filled with joy and mutual respect until Vincent's passing in 2003. Denise’s career was marked by dedication and diligence. She embarked on her professional journey with Dollar Savings Bank as a Teller in 1970, where her keen intellect and work ethic saw her rise to the esteemed position of Assistant Vice President as the bank transitioned to Emigrant Savings Bank. After 43 years of faithful service, she retired in 2013, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and integrity. A proud alumna of Mother Butler Memorial High School, Class of 1970, Denise maintained lifelong connections with her school friends, often reminiscing about the joys of her youth. Her spirit of community was further exemplified by her active participation in the Fort Schuyler Beach Club, Locust Point Community Center, and the St. Frances deChantel Senior Club. Here, she spent many joyful hours playing bingo and cards, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Denise’s love for adventure was evident in her passion for travel, particularly her annual trips to Las Vegas with dear friends. These journeys were more than vacations; they were celebrations of life and friendship, filled with laughter and joy. Known for her warmth, kindness, and readiness to offer a helping hand, Denise touched countless lives with her gentle spirit. Her family gatherings were always marked by her welcoming presence, where holiday dinners and special occasions were filled with love and laughter. Denise is survived by her loving sister, Phyllis (Donald) Mazzaro, her devoted niece Alice (Stephen) Russo, and her caring nephew Daniel Mazzaro. Her legacy continues through her great-nephews, Stephen Russo, Nicolas, Anthony, and Daniel Mazzaro, and her great-niece, Danielle Russo. Her life was also graced by the many close friends whose lives she enriched. A service to honor Denise’s life will be held on March 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Frances deChantel Church, located at 190 Hollywood Avenue, Bronx, NY. During this time, we will celebrate the love and light she brought into our lives. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who offered support and kindness, with special thanks to Fran and Anthony for their unwavering devotion and friendship. Denise Brescia leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
