Demetrius Sloan, a beloved son, friend, and community member, passed away on July 11, 2026, at the age of 33. Born in South Bend, Indiana, on January 10, 1993, Demetrius was a beacon of light and kindness in the lives of all who knew him. Demetrius was the cherished son of Elizabeth Sloan and Demetrius Scales. From an early age, he exhibited a boundless curiosity and a compassionate heart, qualities that he carried throughout his life. His mother, Elizabeth, who predeceased him, was a profound influence on his character, instilling in him the values of empathy and resilience. A proud native of South Bend, Demetrius was deeply rooted in his community. He was known for his engaging smile and generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. Friends and family often marveled at his ability to bring people together and create a sense of belonging. Demetrius's life was tragically cut short in a crash involving an 18 wheeler. Although his time with us was brief, his impact was immeasurable. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A memorial service to celebrate Demetrius's life will be held on August 14, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Zahoran Funeral Home, located at 1826 Kemble Ave, South Bend, IN 46613. Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Demetrius are warmly invited to attend and share in remembering the joy he brought to the world. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Demetrius's memory to consider making a donation to a charity of their choice, reflecting his generous spirit and commitment to helping others. Demetrius Sloan will be dearly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire us all.
