It is with heavy hearts yet enduring gratitude that we announce his passing on August 21, 2026. Demetrius was a beloved son to Kim and Richard Fleming and a cherished husband to Doresha AyersFleming.
A proud graduate of Weldon High School in 2006, Demetrius pursued higher learning at Chowan University, where his incredible skills with the high school band left a lasting impression on all who heard him play. His passion for music and rhythm was not just a hobby but a way of life, and he shared this love with everyone he encountered, especially within his church community.
Demetrius was the proud and loving father of Keshawn Williams, Azarah Brown, Alaysha Williams, Sajaiden Fleming, Imir Rodgers, Imiyah Rodgers, Demetria Fleming, Zendai Fleming, and Da'Loni Fleming. He often spoke with immense pride and joy about his children, and his eyes would light up at the mention of their accomplishments. To them, he was not just a father but a hero, a constant source of strength and inspiration who always wore a smile despite any hardships he faced.
He is also survived by his siblings, Dorian Fleming, Chris Fleming, Richard Fleming Jr, Robert Fleming, Kenneth Fleming, Terria Bates, and Karen Butler. Each remembers him for his caring nature and the warmth he brought into their lives.
Those who knew Demetrius will remember his ever-present smile and his passion for helping others and spreading joy. His spirit will forever be celebrated by his family and friends, who fondly recall his dedication to praising the gospel and having a great time in every moment.
A service honoring Demetrius's life will be held at H D Pope Funeral Homes, located at 520 Smith Church Rd, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society - Breast Cancer Fund in his memory.
Demetrius's legacy of love and joy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His family shares this special message: "Forever in our hearts, we love you, Dad."
