It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Demetria Lynn Ayers, who left this world peacefully on May 20, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on December 3, 1961, in Houston, Texas, Demetria was a beacon of love and warmth who touched the lives of many through her kindness and generosity. Demetria was the cherished daughter of the late Johnnie Bell Reece and Johnny Lee McKnight, who preceded her in death. She grew up in the vibrant streets of Houston, surrounded by the love of her family and the close-knit community that shaped her into the remarkable woman she became. Her spirit was one of resilience and grace, qualities that she carried with her throughout her life. She was the devoted mother of Kameshia Williams, who, along with her husband Damon Williams, brought tremendous joy and pride to Demetria’s life. Her brothers, Edward Jamie Reece and Edwin Jermaine Reece, held a special place in her heart, offering unwavering support and companionship throughout the years. Demetria found immense joy in her role as a grandmother, doting on her four grandsons: Alondray Noel Alex Jr (alongside Brittany), Traveon Luther Alex, Devonta Malik Alex (with Janiya), and Damon Deshon Williams. Her legacy of love continues through her five great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the values and traditions she lovingly imparted. Throughout her life, Demetria was known for her vibrant spirit and her love for life’s simple pleasures. She had an undeniable passion for shopping, often seen exploring the latest trends, not for herself, but to bring delight to her loved ones. Her generosity extended beyond her family, as she was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying the true essence of community service. Demetria cherished every moment spent with friends and family, treasuring the laughter and memories they created together. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and hospitality, where all were welcome, and her infectious laughter echoed through the walls, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her marriage ended in divorce, Demetria’s heart remained open and full of love. She embraced life’s challenges with courage and determination, continually choosing to lead with kindness and understanding. To honor Demetria’s remarkable life, a service will be held on June 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at O W Wiley in Houston, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate her life, sharing stories and memories that highlight the incredible impact she had on those around her. As we say goodbye to Demetria, we find solace in the love that she leaves behind, a love that will continue to inspire and guide us. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
