In Loving Memory of Delvin Ward Heskett It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Delvin Ward Heskett, who departed this world on his 89th birthday, July 22, 2026, in the loving embrace of his cherished family. Born in Oklahoma City on July 22, 1937, Delvin lived a life filled with love, hard work, and devotion to his family and community. Delvin was the beloved son of the late Lesse Ward and Alpha Cordell Heskett. He was predeceased by his parents and his dear siblings Danny R. Heskett, Mary Ann Heskett, sons Mark Ward Heskett, Mitchell Wade Heskett, and grandson Jesse Wade Heskett. Despite the profound loss of these family members, Delvin’s spirit remained resilient, and his heart was always open to love and care for those around him. Delvin began his journey in Crescent Schools, graduating in 1955, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of dedication and hard work. He first married Virginia Rose Rudd in 1958, and together they raised three wonderful sons—Mark, Mitchell, and Michael—each a testament to Delvin’s values and love. After years of being a single dad, Delvin found love again with Caroline Sue Overholt of Blackwell, Oklahoma. Caroline brought warmth and humor into his life, creating a nurturing home for Delvin and his boys. Delvin built a multifaceted career that spanned farming, the oilfield, and a successful construction business. His hands were never idle, and his heart was always full, as he devoted himself to providing for his family and serving his community. Delvin was an avid fisherman and a skilled hunter, often sharing the fruits of his labor with those he loved. His garden was his pride, and he found immense satisfaction in feeding his family with its bounty. A passionate sports fan, Delvin loved watching the OKC Thunder and college football. He cherished attending games, cheering on his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends, celebrating their achievements with boundless enthusiasm. Delvin is survived by his brothers and sister-in-laws, Delbert Heskett of Fort Worth, Texas and Jim and Pearl Heskett of Crescent, and his devoted children, Mike and Janice Heskett of Crescent, Christy and Matt Owens of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Teri Gail and Chris Wehr of Ponca City, Oklahoma. He leaves behind a legacy carried by 13 grandchildren: Marilyn Heskett, Alicia Heskett, James Hall, LaShell Heskett, Tyler Atnip, Travis Owens, Avery Owens, Mandell Wehr, John Heskett, Richard Cass Horn, Woodrow Horn, Nicholas Heskett, and Milisa Heskett and 27 great-grandchildren, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. A service to honor Delvin’s life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Guthrie First Assembly of God, located at 1900 S. Division St., Guthrie, OK 73044. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who touched so many lives with his generosity, humor, and unwavering love. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Willow Creek Hospital in Guthrie, OK, for their loving care during Delvin’s final days.
